I’m learning every day, and most days I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing. If you don’t mind sharing stories about your past nursing mistakes, I would appreciate it. 🙂
Always make sure the patient is laying down when pulling a JP drain. My preceptor yelled at me real quick once for pulling it out with the patient sitting up.
While doing an s8 count with my cnm I dropped a packet of morphine ampoules. All 5 glass ampoules smashed. I went to start picking them up because I was nervous, cut my finger got morphine in the cut and freaked out thinking I was going to overdose and die.
If you have questions or are unfamiliar with something, ASK! Don’t ever think your question or concern is dumb. Better to ask than risk patient safety.
